If the first thing you do when you crave pizza is pull out a take-out menu, it’s time to switch things up a bit. Step (leap?) outside of your comfort zone and make your own at home. Don't worry, this doesn't require whipping up your own dough and waiting for it to rise (or whatever it's supposed to do). Now you can use a traditional Asian flatbread, a.k.a. naan, to bring your favorite __food to life. It’s as simple as 1, 2, 3… literally. Step one: Buy a piece of naan. Step two: Top it with delicious ingredients. Step three: Throw it in the oven. Because ain't nobody got time to make that dough.
1. Kale Pesto Naan Pizza
Although kale is apparently on its way out from superfood stardom, this recipe embraces the nutritious green to bring you something garlicky and delicious. Rather than using traditional basil and (super-expensive) pine nuts to make pesto, this recipe subs in kale and walnuts for a twist on the traditional green sauce.
2. Brussels Sprout Naan Pizza With an Egg on Top
Honestly, isn’t everything better with an egg on top? The bitterness of the roasted Brussels sprouts pairs perfectly with the salty Parm and the rich, runny egg. This naan pizza is a satisfying meatless dinner, but it’s also great for brunch.
3. Fig and Prosciutto Naan Pizza
I’m not sure if there’s a better combination than fatty prosciutto and sweet, juicy fig. Well, adding a rich balsamic glaze may make it a little better. And putting it all on a piece of naan and calling it a pizza makes it off-the-charts good.
4. Cheeseburger Naan Pizza
For the nights when you want both a cheeseburger and pizza, but you also want to pretend you’re being healthy and practicing portion control, introducing the cheeseburger naan pizza. You’re welcome.
5. Pork and Egg Breakfast Pizza
Why not have pizza for breakfast? This naan pizza is perfect for late-morning tailgating (or a super-hungover Sunday), and the pork will satisfy the most seriou of meat eaters. Topped with an oozy egg, it’s a rich dish that will make a nice addition to any meal.
6. Mediterranean Naan Pizza
This naan pizza is like eating Italian antipasti on top of Asian bread. Topped with olive oil, garlic, sun-dried tomatoes, and arugula, this recipe brings the healthy and fragrant flavors of the Mediterranean to your dinner table in less than 20 minutes.
7. Mushroom and Caramelized Onion Naan Pizza
Just because they don't eat meat and cheese doesn't mean vegans can't enjoy pizza. This healthy naan pizza is topped with mushrooms, caramelized onions, and nutritional yeast that bring out an intense umami flavor so good that you could fool your meat-loving friends.
8. Sriracha Peanut Naan Pizza
This Asian take on pizza is topped with a Sriracha peanut sauce and cilantro oil. How tasty does that combo sound? Spicy peanuts plus cooling cilantro equals pure bliss.
9. Tomato and White Bean Naan Pizza
Obviously, we want all carbs all the time, but there’s always that little voice in the back of our heads, saying, “Hey, what about some protein?” Fine! This naan pizza is topped with white beans, which supply around 9 grams of protein per serving.
